Thoughts on contentment

Contentment and satisfaction are overrated
they appear as clouds in a sunny sky
they blocks out the true meaning of things
and it is my choice to see through them
if that means a lack of hedonistic pleasure
or the weight of the world on my shoulders
well atlas, here I come to take your place
Because I rather be stressed, angry, and unhappy
then to be enjoying those things which are shallow
now if you think I am against happiness
then you missed the point
My problem is with the clouds’ most likely end results, apathy
Apathy will lead you down and road of unlikely return
It will take your flame and extinguish it
If you are lucky you’ll wake up mid life
and realize your life is a shame
and if you wake up it will be just in time
to walk down your apathetic highway one more time before death
So what is one to do?
Strive for perfection, reach for the unreachable
with this goal you will never find rest
but that doesn’t mean you cannot be happy
life is about the journey and each step,
It’s not about the destination
so take up the creed to become better with each breathe
strive for greatness in each step
and never settle for your current place
see through the clouds in the sky
and carry whatever needs to be carried forward
rather than standing by idle and content
